South Lake Tahoe, CA- The National Weather Service is predicting a rain and snow event in the city over the next few days. That paves the way for flooding and ice concerns.

NWS has issued a Winter Storm Warning starting tonight at 10:00PM through 2/14/19 at 10:00PM. The forecasts vary, but we should expect heavy rain and heavy snow, which could lead to flooding. This storm also brings the potential for strong winds for everyone in the area.

“We need people to get prepared now,” said Chris Fiore, Communications Manager for the City, “Clearing off existing snow, making sure drains are clear and will be able to flow properly, all of these are simple things everyone can do to minimize the impact of the storm.”

Remember, the city has two locations open for people to come get sandbags if they need them.

  • City Public Works Yard, 1160 Rufus Allen Blvd.
  • Fire Station 3, 2101 Lake Tahoe Blvd.
