VHRs in Commercial/Tourist Core Area

If your property is located in a Commercial/Tourist Core Area and meet the below criteria, you may obtain an over-the-counter permit. Please note these permits must meet the following criteria:

  1. Zoned commercial or tourist accommodation where Tourist Accommodation Units are allowed; and
    Part of a contiguous development of more than one APN; and

  2. Has a 24-hour and 7 day per week staff on-site; and

  3. Has commercial trash service with a dumpster on-site; and

  4. Has access to parking spaces above the minimum required for each VHR in the development; and

  5. Has private security contracted to provide a maximum 30-minute response time.

Proprties that meet these criteria include 3535 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, 920 Bal Bijou, 1001 Heavenly Village Way, and 1234 Melba Dr.

If your property does not meet the criteria listed above, but is located in a Commercial/Tourist Core Area, then you are required to go through the public hearing process and obtain approval from the Zoning Administrator. For the permitting process, please click here.
