The Boat Ramp is CLOSED due to low water levels in Lake Tahoe.

The Lakeview Commons at El Dorado Beach boat ramp is located on Highway 50 at Lakeview Avenue. The boat ramp is open seasonally depending on accessibility and the lake's water level.

Special Events Guidelines, Application and Timeline
These apply to ALL public events being proposed on City Property. This policy is being implemented in 2016 for all public event rentals. The application helps City Staff understand details about your event so we know how extensive it is and what City policies apply.

Boat Inspections

A boat inspection is required before entering the lake.  Tahoe Resource Conservation District is the managing agency of boat inspections before entering Lake Tahoe.  More information is available of their website as to inspection locations.

The closest boat inspection location is in Meyers, CA at 2128 Keetak Street, on the South Shore near the intersection of Highways 89 and 50. Turn on Pomo St. off of HWY 89.

Lakeview Commons at El Dorado Beach and Boat Ramp is the largest beach area in South Lake Tahoe, it is the place to go for large picnics, launching your boat, renting a kayak or water toy, viewing the lake, or simply to relax. Highlights of this facility include:

  • Boat launch with floating dock
  • Kayak and water toy concession
  • Large picnic area, includes tables and BBQ  
  • Large turf area, perfect for throwing out a blanket
  • Restroom
  • Swim area, roped and buoyed
  • Two parking lots
