About Us

The South Lake Tahoe Dispatch Center is certified through the State of California as the primary Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for the South Lake Tahoe basin area. The dispatch center dispatches emergency services for the South Lake Tahoe Police Department, South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue, Cal Tahoe EMS, Lake Valley Fire Protection District and Fallen Leaf Fire Department.

All public safety dispatchers employed at our dispatch center are fully trained in police, fire and EMS dispatching protocols and are required to maintain their training certifications in these areas. We are staffed with one Dispatch Supervisor and ten Public Safety Dispatchers consisting of eight full-time and two part-time positions.

The South Lake Tahoe Dispatch Center handles an average of over 10,000 emergency calls and 65,000 non-emergency calls for service every year. We are required by California standards to answer 95% of 911 calls within 15 seconds by which we currently answer 100% of 911 calls within that requirement.
