Create Your Defensible Space

0-5 feet around your home should be free of any bushes or pine needles.
5-30 feet around your home should be lean and clean. Trees and shrubs are ok, but they should not be touching each other.
30-100 feet around your home should be landscaping in good condition, with no flammable vegetation.
Trim up tree branches 10 feet away from your structure.

Harden Your Home

Wildfires can ignite features of your home, especially older homes that do not met current building codes. Learn the steps you can take to fireproof (harden) your home against wildfire.

Prepare For Your Annual Inspection

Our Defensible Space Inspectors are going through each street to inspect homes for things the homeowner can do to create good defensible space. They will inspect from the street unless you ask them to perform a full inspection on your property. This is a great way to find out what you can do to protect your property against the threat of wildfire.
  • Call 530-307-9222 to get an appointment for an inspector to come walk your property. This is a free service.
