South Tahoe Redevelopment Successor Agency

The Project Area for the South Tahoe Redevelopment Agency (STRA) was adopted on June 28, 1988 by Ordinance NO. 746. The Project Area is located in the northeast portion of the City of South Lake Tahoe and encompasses approximately 174 acres. Major land uses include tourist facilities and commercial development. The Project Area generally runs along Highway 50 from just west of Ski Run Boulevard to the California-Nevada border.

On December 29, 2011, the California Supreme Court issued its opinion in California Redevelopment Association, et al. v. Matosantos, et al. The Court upheld Assembly Bill 1X 26, which provides for the dissolution of redevelopment agencies as of February 1, 2012.

Previously, on September 27, 2011, the City of South Lake Tahoe adopted Resolution 2011-54 electing to serve as the South Tahoe Redevelopment Successor Agency (STRSA). The Successor Agency is responsible for the wind down of the former Redevelopment Agency's debts, obligations and affairs. As of February 1, 2012, the Successor Agency has adopted an Amended Enforceable Obligation Schedule and created a Redevelopment Obligation Retirement Fund. On April 26, 2012 the Oversight Board for the South Tahoe Redevelopment Successor Agency has approved a Recognized Obligation Payment Schedule for the six-month fiscal period of January 1, 2012 through June 30, 2012.
