The City of South Lake Tahoe is currently recruiting for the positions of Assistant Planner, Assistant City Clerk, Building Inspector and multiple Recreation Opportunities. The job announcements are located at http://agency.governmentjobs.com/slaketahoe/default.cfm

Assistant Planner
Under general supervision (Assistant Planner) or direction (Associate Planner) of the Planning Manager, performs a variety of professional level duties and responsibilities in support of the City's current and advanced planning functions including research and analysis for residential and commercial development projects, environmental review and preparation of environmental documents, and research and preparation of general plan amendments and zoning ordinance amendments for presentation to the Planning Commission and City Council; and provides information and assistance to applicants, developers, consultants, the general public, and outside agencies and organizations regarding City codes, policies, standards, and processes related to planning related matters.

Assistant City Clerk
Under direction of the City Clerk, the Assistant City Clerk performs a wide variety of responsible and complex administrative, technical, programmatic, and secretarial duties to relieve assigned staff of technical as well as general administrative details; and serves as a liaison with other City departments and staff, outside agencies, and the general public including to provide information regarding department policies, procedures, and functions.

Building Inspector
Under general supervision (Building Inspector) or direction (Senior Building Inspector) of the Building Official, performs a variety of inspections on commercial, industrial, and residential buildings, and limited fire-protection systems inspection duties, at various stages of construction, alteration, and repair; reviews a variety of construction drawings; and provides information and assistance to the public.

Recreation Opportunities
All Park and Recreation positions require a disposition that allows effective and positive interaction with the public as required by the position.

Recreation Cashier I-Must have previous experience with cash handling, excellent customer service skills, ability to communicate effectively both in person and on the phone.

Bus Driver - Required to safely transport children for summer program activities. All drivers must be active with lake Tahoe Unified School District and authorized to drive school busses.

Pool Lifeguard-All Lifeguards are required to have: ARC Lifeguard/1st Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and ability to obtain Title 22-First Aid for Public Safety Personnel within the first year of employment. Must pass basic swim test and in-water rescue drills.

Head Pool Lifeguard-Head Lifeguards are required to have: ARC Lifeguard/1st Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Title 22- First Aid for Public Safety Personnel, and a minimum of 2 years Head Lifeguard experience

Recreation Instructor-Must be 16 years of age or older, able to conduct swim instruction for all ages and abilities, demonstrate an understanding of teaching and learning styles. Must hold a current Water Safety Instructor Certification (WSI) through American Red Cross.

Recreation Leader-Designs, organizes, leads, teaches, and supervises a variety of recreation activities such as sports, games, field trips, and arts and crafts for a variety of age groups. Recreation Leaders assigned to youth and teen activities must have previous experience working with youth of all ages in a large group setting. Recreation Leaders may work in a variety of locations including visitor services and special events.
