[ARCHIVED] South Tahoe Action Team Graduates

The fifth session of the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department’s South Tahoe Action Team (STAT) graduated during today’s city council meeting.

This program is for community members to be trained by the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department as responders during times of crisis. Curriculum includes eight (8) hours of instruction taught by members of the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department. Graduates may be called upon in times of natural disaster, large scale emergencies and times of need in the South Lake Tahoe area. The curriculum also instructs STAT team members of the Incident Command structure, emergency first aid, lifting/moving techniques, use of extinguishers, flood safety and building collapse.

Today’s graduates included; Caitlin Malley, David Miller, Dawn Wood, Helen Burkart, Jerry Carter, Jim Yorkey, Kirk Wooldridge, Terry Haugen and Tom Callahan.

“The STAT program is designed to have neighbors helping neighbors,” said South Tahoe Fire Department Chief Jeff Meston.
