The City of South Lake Tahoe is currently recruiting for the positions of Ambulance Driver/EMR and Paramedic.

Ambulance Driver/EMR
The position will last up to 16 weeks and candidates will be required to adhere to the "48/96" work schedule. Under the direction of the Fire Captain or Fire Battalion Chief, the Ambulance Driver/EMT is a limited term, extra help position delivering quality patient care in accordance with Cal Tahoe JPA policies, El Dorado County protocols, statewide protocols, and standards of care. The Ambulance Driver/EMT is to perform a broad range of tasks relevant to the assumed duties. This position is an entry level classification working for a limited term to provide support to the fire department relative to ambulance services.

Paramedic
The position will last up to 16 weeks and candidates will be required to adhere to the "48/96" work schedule. Under the direction of the Fire Captain or Fire Battalion Chief for operational matters and EMS Captain for administrative matters or issues related to ALS, the Paramedic is a temporary extra help position responding to medical and traumatic emergencies, to select hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes to provide inter-facility transfers'; performs advanced life support procedures on scene and during transportation. Reports to Cal Tahoe Field Training Officer for matters regarding professional and/or clinical care and /or quality; Medical Control Physicians and Nursing personnel for consultation, supervision and direction of the provision of emergency medical care in a given situation to an individual patient(s); and to El Dorado County Medical Director for all patient care rendered while functioning as a paramedic for El Dorado County. The Paramedic/temporary position is to perform a broad range of tasks relevant to the assumed duties. This position is fully trained in the scope of duties associated with this class and performs the full range of assigned duties.
