The City of South Lake Tahoe recently applied to The League of American Bicyclists to have the City recertified as a “Bicycle Friendly Community.” During this certification process, the League reviews all of the bicycle related information submitted to them, which includes things such as: How many miles of bike paths/lanes are in South Lake Tahoe, what type of bike infrastructure improvements have been completed, how is the City encouraging the public to cycle, law enforcement related to cycling, educational outreach for cycling, and basic demographics of the community.
The application review is based on two factors; the first one being volunteers who actually sign up to do a lengthy review of our application. The second part of the review is based on getting actual feedback from our community members, via an online survey. The survey only takes a few minutes to complete and the results will be shared with the community.
