[ARCHIVED] Suspect in Custody for Assault with a Firearm

On Sunday, November 12, 2017 at approximately 2:40am South Lake Tahoe Police Department Dispatch received reports of a shooting at Beach Retreat & Lodge, located at 3411 Lake Tahoe Blvd, where a concert had just ended.  An employee of Beach Retreat & Lodge followed the suspect to the parking lot of CVS located at 3471 Lake Tahoe Blvd.  Officers arrived on scene and detained several people in that area.

Through the investigation it was determined that the suspect had been involved in an altercation with the victim, whom he knew, after the concert.  At some point the suspect pulled out a firearm and discharged one round at the victim’s legs.  The victim was not struck by the gunfire, and the suspect left the scene.  Officers located a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun near where the suspect was contacted.  The firearm was reported as missing to the Redding Police Department circa 2015.  Arrested was Timothy Althouse, a 30-year-old resident of South Lake Tahoe.  Althouse was booked into the El Dorado County Jail for 245(a)(2) PC - Assault with a Firearm on a Person and his bail was set at $75,000.

Anyone who may have information about this case is encouraged to call the South Lake Tahoe Police Department at 530-542-6100, or to remain anonymous, Lake Tahoe Secret Witness at 530-541-6800.
