The purpose of this Initial Study/Initial Environmental Checklist (IS/IEC) is to evaluate the potential environmental impacts of the Al Tahoe Boulevard Safety and Mobility Project.

According to the California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines Section 15063(c), one of the purposes of an IS is to provide a preliminary analysis of a proposed project to determine whether a Negative Declaration, Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND), or an Environmental Impact Report should be prepared.

The IS/IEC evaluates the potential environmental impacts of the Project with respect to the City of South Lake Tahoe General Plan Update EIR and Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Regional Plan Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement.

The proposed Project design incorporates the applicable design, construction control and resource protection measures that were identified by these publicly scoped and approved documents, as necessary, to avoid, reduce, minimize or otherwise mitigate potentially significant project effects on the environment to levels of less than significant.
