The City of
South Lake Tahoe, in consolidation with the El Dorado County Elections
Department, will be conducting an election on November 6, 2018 for the
following elected positions: three (3) City Council Member seats, one (1) City
Clerk seat and one (1) City Treasurer seat.
The filing
period opens on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 9:00 AM and closes on Friday, August 10,
2018 at 5:00 PM.; however, if an incumbent fails to file his or her nomination
papers by August 10, 2018, the filing period will be extended for five (5)
days, ending on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 5:00 PM.
All
interested persons must be a registered voter and reside within the City of
South Lake Tahoe at the time nomination papers are issued.
City Councilmembers
receive a monthly compensation in the amount of $1,042.97. Councilmembers and dependents are also
eligible for City medical/dental benefits and are enrolled in the California
Public Employees Retirement System (PERS).
The City of South Lake Tahoe does not have a filing fee. However, there is a charge for candidates who wish to file and have printed a Candidate Statement in the sample ballot. If a candidate chooses to submit a Candidate Statement for printing in the sample ballot, a fee of $500 for English and/or $596 for Spanish is required by the El Dorado County Elections Department.

papers can be obtained at the City Clerk’s Office located at 1901 Airport Road,
South Lake Tahoe, California. Office
hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Please contact the City

The oath of
office to newly elected Councilmembers will be administered at the Tuesday,
December 11, 2018 City Council meeting.
