South Lake Tahoe, CA- The first major winter storm of 2019 continues to roar outside and city crews are have been working around the clock, plowing roads and monitoring conditions to keep you safe. The Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until Friday morning.
Overnight the city had rain off and on turning into snow in the early morning hours. One storm-related damage incident was reported after a tree fell into an apartment building. South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue responded and call the damage, “minor.”
“The one thing we are asking of people in South Lake Tahoe is to stay off the roads if at all possible,” said Chris Fiore, City Communications Manager, “we’re expecting more snow and wind today. We could get 10-14 more inches of snow today, so hunker down and stay inside.”

“With all the rain we’ve had on top of the snow, concerns about ice are also very real” said Fiore. “Black ice can form at above freezing temperatures so it’s important to stay vigilant”
Remember, the city has two locations open for people to come get sandbags if they need them.

- Fire Station 3, 2101 Lake Tahoe Blvd.
You will need to fill your own bags and transport them back to your home. Please leave the shovels so that other residents may use them. Access to sand bags is available during normal business hours, Monday-Friday 7:30am-4pm.
