South Lake Tahoe, CA- The community is invited to attend a forum on the US 50 South Shore Community Revitalization Project.
The project involves the realignment of US 50, south of the tourist core. Importantly for the City of South Lake Tahoe the project includes a new main street in the Heavenly Village area, it requires new affordable housing units be built before construction can begin, additional parking strategies for the tourist core area, pedestrian, bike, and transit enhancements and other community amenities.
“We are getting ready to embark on significant planning efforts for this project,” said City Manager Frank Rush, “It’s going to be an important project for our community, and we want the public to be engaged. This meeting will be the first of many opportunities for public input. At the end of the day, we want to all work together to build a successful project for South Lake Tahoe.”
The forum will be a chance for the public to engage with stakeholders from the City of South Lake Tahoe, Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, and Tahoe Transportation District. A facilitator will guide the conversation, but the goal is to start a conversation about the project and what shape the public would like to see the future take in South Lake Tahoe.
