South Lake Tahoe, CA- In an effort to revitalize small businesses and assist our residents during the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of South Lake Tahoe, in partnership with the Short-Term Economic Recovery Sub-Committee, has implemented several programs to help local people in their time of need.
Locals EatSLT Restaurant Voucher Program.
These program vouchers will be distributed to the people of South Lake Tahoe in need.
“The City understands the need for people, and small businesses in our community right now,” said City Manager Joe Irvin, “we are happy to provide this service and help the people who keep our community running in their time of need.”
The City Council has allocated up to $50,000 in funding to establish the Program. Those in need are eligible to receive one $25.00 voucher to be used at participating restaurants. (List of participating restaurants will be available on May 19th). Vouchers can be used for dine-in, take out or delivery. Vouchers cannot be used for the purchase of alcohol.
Participating Restaurants are asked to submit redeemed vouchers to the City Administrative Services Department located at 1901 Lisa Maloff Way inside the Lake Tahoe Airport. Reimbursement checks will be generated and mailed bi-weekly to the restaurants.
To sign up as a participating restaurant, please submit your request in email, no later than 5:00 pm on Monday, May 18th, to recovery@cityofslt.us
City Council has also approved $100,000 to fund the COVID Compliance Grant Funding Program, allowing up to $2,500 per business available for reimbursement.
Businesses will be able to seek reimbursement from the City utilizing the COVID Compliance Grant for improvements to their establishment to comply with reopening guidelines such as, but not limited to:
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Face Coverings
- Hand Sanitizer Stations
- Cashier Screening and Barrier Improvements
- Social Distancing Signage

Businesses will be asked to submit paid receipts, along with photos of the improvements to recovery@cityoflst.us in order to receive 50-percent reimbursement.
City Council gives $50,000 to Small Business Relief Fund
Working with the El Dorado County Foundation the City will give funds to local small businesses struggling in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A selection committee will be formed to help give out the money based on established criteria. By providing both an income statement and unpaid bills the process of transparency and accountability are both achieved. The income statement provides proof of eligibility and the unpaid bills provide proof of need.
“As a City we are doing our best to provide much-needed help to the people and businesses that keep South Lake Tahoe running,” said Irvin, “These actions will provide some relief and the City is proud to help during this time.”
