[ARCHIVED] Nomination period to run for City Council extended through next Wednesday

South Lake Tahoe, CA- The City of South Lake Tahoe, along with the El Dorado County Elections Department, will be holding an election November 3, 2020 for two South Lake Tahoe City Council members.

State elections law says when an incumbent is not running the nomination period will be extended for 5 days.

This means anyone who wants to run for City Council now has until August 12, at 5:00 PM to submit their nomination paperwork.

In light of COVID-19 candidates must make an appointment with the City Clerk for to get candidate documents and verify the submission of completed candidate filing documents.

Before the documents are issued, the City Clerk will verify the eligibility of the candidate for the office sought.

Any documents that require an oath by the candidate may be executed in the presence of a notary, in the office of the City Clerk during available business hours, by appointment.

Documents can be submitted electronically to the City Clerk so that the City Clerk may begin the review and verification process as soon as possible.

In order to be a qualified candidate for the office in which you are seeking, the completed documents with original signatures must be received by appointment with the City Clerk by the close of the nomination period for that particular office.
