South Lake Tahoe, CA- South Lake Tahoe remains in the Purple Tier which means non-essential businesses can stay open. This as almost 70% of Californians are now under stay-at-home orders.
South Lake Tahoe is in the designated “Greater Sacramento Area.” The determination about which area moves to a stay at home order is when that area has 15% or less ICU beds available. Our region currently has 20.3% of our ICU beds available, that’s actually better than numbers in recent days.
“These numbers are a step in the right direction, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to let our guard down,” said City Manager Joe Irvin, “What it shows is that wearing a mask, physical distancing, and washing our hands are working. These things are the best things we can do to keep us from going to a stay-at-home order.”
As of November 21, 2020, Californians in counties in the Tier 1/Widespread (purple) tier are directed to stop non-essential activities between 10PM and 5AM. It also means that businesses can continue to operate with stricter modifications. Restaurants can only operate outdoors, other businesses can operate but at very limited capacity. “We want to make sure people stay safe and our businesses stay open, but that takes work from all of us,” said Irvin, “We can do that. Just because we are all over COVID-19 doesn’t mean COVID-19 is over.”
The City’s mask mandate fine remains in effect. Individuals who refuse to wear a mask could be subject to a $100 fine, businesses who violate the mandate could face a $500 fine.
