[ARCHIVED] No injuries reported in overnight house fire

springwood 2

South Lake Tahoe, CA- Just before 5:00 AM, South Lake Tahoe firefighters responded to a reported house fire on Springwood Avenue.

When they got there, firefighters found a house with heavy smoke coming from the second floor. After trying to put the fire out unsuccessfully, the two people who lived inside were able to escape the fire unharmed.

With a central location within the City, firefighters from all three stations were on the scene in a matter of minutes, despite the snowy road conditions.

A quick interior attack on the fire allowed firefighters from South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue and the Lake Valley Fire Protection District to limit the fire to the second floor. Tahoe-Douglas Fire Protection District as well as Cal Tahoe EMS Authority also jumped in to help.

“This incident is a good reminder to regularly check that smoke detectors operate properly and to have an “ABC rated” fire extinguisher in both your kitchen and garage,” said Fire Chief Clive Savacool.

This incident marks the first house fire that SLTFR Truck 2 has responded to and is already proving its worth.  The timely response from all first responders and quick action by residents prevented any injuries.
