[ARCHIVED] El Dorado County remains in red tier

Tiers

South Lake Tahoe, CA-While several counties in California have moved to a less restrictive tier, El Dorado County along with Calaveras, Imperial, and Napa Counties will remain in the red tier as a result of too many new COVID-19 cases. Per the EDC website, the adjusted case rate for El Dorado County is at 4.8, and to move to the orange tier, we must be between 1.0 and 3.9.  However, there is a possibility that we will be moving to the orange tier shortly. With an upcoming rule change per the California Department of Public Health, once the state administers 4 million doses to Californians in the bottom quartile of its “Healthy Places Index”, the CDPH will raise the cutoff from 3.9 daily COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents to 5.9 daily COVID-19 cases per 100,000 in the orange tier which would allow us to move to this tier.

Furthermore, the case rates for all tiers will be adjusted, so we should see several counties moving to a less restrictive tier. To date, 3.46 million doses have been administered under the Healthy Places Index and it is anticipated that our state will reach 4 million within a week.

Please note: The administered vaccines are based on the Healthy Places Index quartiles and not the overall doses administered statewide which is at approximately 17,649,015.

The City of South Lake Tahoe continues to work and communicate closely with El Dorado County and will keep the community updated on any changes.
