[ARCHIVED] All-way stop being added at Tahoe Keys Boulevard and Washi

Stop signs1

The addition of two stop signs at the intersection of Tahoe Keys Boulevard and Washington Boulevard is scheduled to be installed on Wednesday, August 18 to address safety issues. After the City received several calls from residents about this intersection being a safety concern for pedestrians, a traffic study was conducted by an outside traffic engineering company, Wood Rodgers, to assess the conditions.

Residents in the area have witnessed school children dashing across the road to avoid speeding vehicles that do not observe the school crossing sign at the intersection. In addition, motorists do not always stop when pedestrians, including school children, are standing at the edge of pavement waiting for an opportunity to cross Tahoe Keys Boulevard.

The traffic engineering company determined that an all-way stop sign at this intersection is warranted based on the high vehicular volume and high pedestrian volume. Per an engineer from Wood Rodgers, “An all-way stop control at this intersection would make pedestrian crossings safer and more convenient.”
