Declaration of Candidacy opens July 18 for the November General Municipal Election

 

 

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA, July 14, 2022 –In consolidation with the El Dorado County Elections, a General Municipal Election will be held in the City of South Lake Tahoe on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, for the following officers: (3) members of City Council, (1) City Clerk, and (1) City Treasurer. The nomination period for these offices begins on Monday, July 18, at 8am and close on Friday, August 12, at 5pm. If nomination papers for an incumbent officer of the city are not filed by August 12, the filing period will be extended for 5 days, ending on Wednesday, August 17, at 5pm. If no one or only one person is nominated for an elective office, an appointment to the elective office may be made as prescribed by § 10229, Elections Code of the State of California. 

 

Nomination papers are issued by the City Clerk and may be obtained at City Hall in the City Clerk’s Office located at 1901 Lisa Maloff Way, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150. Making an appointment with the City Clerk’s office is strongly encouraged. 

 

To be eligible to run for a city elective office, persons must be a registered voter of the City of South Lake Tahoe at the time nomination papers are issued and reside within the City of South Lake Tahoe city limits. The City of South Lake Tahoe does not have a filing fee. However, there is a charge for candidates who wish to file and have printed a Candidate Statement in the sample ballot. The fee, determined by the El Dorado County Registrar of Voters, is $395 for English and an additional $491 for Spanish.
