On September 7, 2012 the South Lake Tahoe Police responded to a radio call of a burglary which had occurred at an art supply store in the City of South Lake Tahoe. During the investigation officers were advised that cash and approximately $3000.00 worth of spray paint and markers had been stolen. On September 8, 2012 victims of vandalism began calling the Police Department to report that buildings, signs and vehicles had been tagged with graffiti. Officer Herminghaus and Detective Sentell, who are investigating this case, received information which led to a residence on Silver Dollar Avenue. Officer Herminghaus and Detective Sentell conducted a probation search of the residence and located two male juveniles, (16 years and 15 years old), hiding in a closet. During the probation search spray paint and markers which had been taken in the burglary were recovered. The two juveniles admitted to being involved in the burglary and one admitted to tagging buildings, signs and vehicles. A third juvenile has been identified as a suspect and is still outstanding. The damage to property as a result of the graffiti is estimated to be in the thousands of dollars.
