Fraud Alert Update
This information release is being sent as an update to a fraud alert press release sent out on 9/19/12. Since that release the South Lake Tahoe Police Department has been contacted by South West Gas who advised they do indeed have three private contractors working in South Lake Tahoe. There are two contractors and one Inspection Company that work with customers on various weatherization programs.
The three companies are:
Residential Weatherization Inc. (installation contractor)
Project Go Inc. (installation contractor)
Richard Heath and Associates (3rd party inspections)
Per Southwest Gas, to determine if a customer qualifies for one of the weatherization programs the contractors will ask for income verification. The types of income included in household income are determined by the “CPUC”.
Attached is an excerpt from the California Statewide Low Income Energy Efficiency Policy and Procedures Manual (obtained from Southwest Gas). Also attached are pictures of the work trucks and badges used by the three companies authorized by Southwest gas to do work.
