[ARCHIVED] City Associate Planner Recipient of Tahoe Chamber’s Blue Ribbon Award in Public Service

The City of South Lake Tahoe’s Judy Finn, Associate Planner, was the 2012 recipient of the Tahoe Chamber’s Blue Ribbon Award in Public Service. Ms. Finn was named the 2012 Public Agency Employee who exemplifies excellence in public service. California Senator Ted Gaines was also on hand to deliver the Senate Service Award.

“Ms. Finn is a dedicated public servant whose commitment knows no bounds. We are proud of her being selected. She is a valued member of the City’s team,” said City Manager Nancy Kerry. “She exemplifies and demonstrates professionalism, excellent internal and external customer service and dedication to the City and the community we serve.”

Mayor Fortier added her congratulations, staring, “We are very proud of Judy, she is what makes the City a hallmark of public service.”

Ms. Finn began her career with the City of South Lake Tahoe 12 ½ years ago as a Planning and Building Permit Technician, promoted to Assistant Planner and promoted again to Associate Planner within the Development Services Department.

When asked what she like most about working for the City, Ms. Finn stated “One of the best things about my job is the satisfaction of taking people through the process from start to the final approval. Since my job is regulatory, I cannot always say “yes” to what they are proposing, but I can offer options and alternatives that are permissible in the code. It is very rewarding when you can see the projects go from a concept on paper to a thriving business or from vacant land or a structure that needs TLC to a beautiful building that we can all be proud of. Being a part of the process that results in happy homeowners and business owners is very rewarding.”
