A distinct smoke plume is visible on the Doppler radar and has settled in the Tahoe Basin. This smoke is coming from outside of the Basin from the Rim Fire in Tuolumne.
Also, the US Forest Services South Lake Tahoe office has confirmed that there are 5 lighting ignited fires in the Basin. The USFS also said that these fires are under containment and are not contributing to the smoke that is in the basin. The USFS “Fire Information” phone line provides up-to-date information and is available at 530-543-2600, press 6 when prompted.
