The second annual “Light up South Lake Tahoe” event will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2013 beginning at 6:00 pm.
The South Lake Tahoe Fire Department will have its fire truck, along with the Police Command Vehicle and Public Works Snow Plow decorated with white lights and will begin their procession at 6:00 p.m. starting at Stateline. If you would like to decorate your vehicle and join behind the City procession, feel free to do so by lining up at Stateline and be ready to “slow roll” by 6:00pm.
Catch the holiday spirit as the procession rolls down Highway 50. Once the fire truck approaches businesses on Highway50, we ask that businesses turn on their holiday lights and participate in “Lighting up South Lake Tahoe.”
The festivities will conclude at the “Y” with the annual tree lighting, Lake Tahoe Unified School District choirs singing from grades 3-12, a brass band comprised of South Tahoe High School students, along with hot cocoa, cookies and a visit by Santa Claus with photo opportunities.
The City has once again purchased industrial grade, heavy duty, clear mini light sets and are promoting a special buy one, get one free offer to participating businesses. Lights can be picked up at the City Offices at the airport.
Due to South Tahoe Standup Paddles outstanding job of decorating their storefront last year, we will be awarding “Best Participation and Most Enthusiastic” business awards with First Place, Runner-up and Third Place winners. We will ask the community to vote for their favorite decorated storefronts with an online poll at www.cityofslt.us
