[ARCHIVED] City Offers Summer Youth Program – STAR Camp

The City of South Lake Tahoe Community Services department officially kicks off its summer youth program, STAR (South Tahoe Adventure Recreation) Camp this week.

“Our STAR Camps mission is to provide an active, healthy, and safe environment for youth to learn and play. STAR Camp is looking forward to a fun and exciting Summer 2014. We continue to encourage kids to get outside, play games, and make healthy choices. Please, leave the electronics at home and bring your water bottle and tennis shoes daily, “said camp leader Jen Menzel.

Camper minimum age must be 6 years old, or show proof of completion of Kindergarten. Youth maximum age will be 16 years old. This program is designed for youth and teens to explore Lake Tahoe, discover the possibilities, and create memories in a fun and safe environment. Independent TEEN activities will be available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the summer.

“My kids absolutely loved STAR Camp. The counselors are super engaged and they do different activities every week. It's ...a great all day summer option for parents who work but want their kids to have an awesome summer. Jen and Rose and the rest of the team are super,” said parent Alexis Pershall Robin.

STAR Camp offers 10 weeks of 10 different themes including; outdoor fun and adventure, love my neighbor, fitness challenge, go green and bike, act like a star, cowboys and angels, NASA and science, career week, be the change, and spirit week.
