We are currently recruiting for the positions of Police Officer, Public Safety Dispatcher, Recreation Seasonal Staff (cashier, lifeguard, instructor and leader) and Parks Seasonal Staff (cashier, attendant and maintenance at city parks, golf course and Campground by the Lake).
Police Officer Summary Description:
Under general supervision of supervisory or management staff, the Police Officer is a designated peace officer position who performs a variety of duties in the enforcement of law and order; performs a variety of community service duties; and carries out special assignments in the protection of life and property.
Public Safety Dispatcher Summary Description:
Under general supervision from supervisory or management staff, the Public Safety Dispatcher receives and transmits routine and emergency requests for police, fire, ambulance and/or emergency assistance and dispatches required personnel and equipment; performs responsible clerical work of moderately high difficulty; and operates complex teletype and video terminals for automated information retrieval.
Recreation Seasonal Staff Summary Description:
Recreation Cashier I-Must have previous experience with cash handling, excellent customer service skills, ability to communicate effectively both in person and on the phone.
Pool Lifeguard-All Lifeguards are required to have: ARC Lifeguard/1st Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and ability to obtain Title 22-First Aid for Public Safety Personnel within the first year of employment. Must pass basic swim test and in-water rescue drills.
Head Pool Lifeguard-Head Lifeguards are required to have: ARC Lifeguard/1st Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Title 22- First Aid for Public Safety Personnel, and a minimum of 2 years Head Lifeguard experience.
Recreation Instructor-Must be 16 years of age or older, able to conduct swim instruction for all ages and abilities, demonstrate an understanding of teaching and learning styles. Must hold a current Water Safety Instructor Certification (WSI) through American Red Cross.
Recreation Leader-Designs, organizes, leads, teaches, and supervises a variety of recreation activities such as sports, games, field trips, and arts and crafts for a variety of age groups. Recreation Leaders assigned to youth and teen activities must have previous experience working with youth of all ages in a large group setting. Recreation Leaders may work in a variety of locations including visitor services and special events.
Park Cashier I-Must be able to collect and record fees at City campground and municipal golf course. May assign campsites to campers; check campers in and out; act as starter at golf course; deal effectively with the public, both in person and on the phone; and perform other related duties as required.
Park Attendant I-Must be able to maintain general appearance of beaches; campground; golf course; landscaping; athletic fields; buildings; and facilities. Specific duties may include trash collection; restroom cleaning; litter pick up; mowing; weed eating; painting; plumbing; and perform other related duties as required. Possession of a current, valid driver's license is highly desirable for most positions. A Park Attendant position may be assigned P.M. maintenance position in campground, Lakeview Commons, and Boat Ramp.
Parks Maintenance - performs a wide variety of manual, semi-skilled, and skilled tasks in the construction and repair of park and community facilities including irrigation systems, restrooms, playing fields, and tennis courts; inspects park grounds, structures, medians and related facilities for safety, appearance and vandalism; cleans and clears park grounds, structures and playing fields of debris and hazardous conditions; sets up park for special events; and provides technical support to various departments.
