The City of South Lake Tahoe is now accepting applications for the Spring 2015 Citizens Academy. The Citizens Academy is open to all community members. This is an exciting opportunity for residents to increase their knowledge about the workings of local government and have a desire to become more involved in the shaping and development of their community. The Academy will be held on seven (7) consecutive Wednesdays from 5:30-8pm beginning April 8, 2015 and running through May 20, 2015. South Tahoe Action Teams (STAT): Accepting Applications March 1-25th

The South Lake Tahoe Fire Department will be hosting the second session of STAT: South Tahoe Action Teams April 2nd-23rd Classes will be held on four (4) consecutive Thursdays from 6-8pm at the Fire Department Training Center located at 1100 Al Tahoe Blvd. Curriculum will include 8 hours of instruction taught by members of the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department. Applicants will be expected to commit their time and will be called upon in times of natural disaster, large scale emergencies and times of need in the South Lake Tahoe area. Contractors Meeting: Code Updates and New Procedures
Wednesday, March 11th, 5pm-7pm
With the new building season coming up there are things every contractor, designer and homeowner should know before they start any new project. New requirements include; Radon mitigation, sprinklers for additions, updating plumbing fixtures, smoke detectors older than 10 years will need to be replaced whenever you pull a permit and recycling documentation for all construction waste is required on all projects. The details of all procedure and code updates will be discussed on Wednesday, March 11th from 5:00pm-7:00pm in the City Council Chambers located at 1901 Airport Rd.

Airport Master Plan Meeting

The Airport Master Plan Update – Final Phase I Report was released in mid-February. Join us for a public meeting on Monday, March 16th from 5:30pm-7pm and submit your comments on this report. There will also be an opportunity to discuss the preferred alternatives of the future use of the airport facility. The Executive Summary, Final Phase I Report and Appendices are all available online at www.cityofslt.us/airportmasterplan.

The next Tahoe Talks Brown Bag Lunch series is Wednesday, March 18th at 12:00 pm at Lake Tahoe Community College in the Aspen Room and Volunteer Monitoring: Facilitating Change through Observation is the topic. The Tahoe Talks Brown Bag Lunch Series is sponsored by the Tahoe Metropolitan Planning Organization, League to Save Lake Tahoe, One South Shore, and the U.S. Department of Transportation. Admission is free and light snacks are provided.
