The City of South Lake Tahoe is currently recruiting for the positions of Street Maintenance Worker and Building Inspector.

Street Maintenance Worker:
This is the entry-level maintenance class in the Street Maintenance Worker series performing routine and less complex manual, semi-skilled and skilled work in the maintenance of streets and other public services areas. Positions at this level are not expected to function with the same amount of program knowledge or skill level as positions allocated to the Heavy Equipment Operator level and exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods.

Building Inspector:
This is the full journey level technical class in the Building Inspector series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Building Inspector by the performance of the full range of combination building and limited fire-protection system inspection duties for residential, commercial, and industrial building projects as assigned. Employees at this level are expected to be fully knowledgeable of applicable adopted codes and other applicable regulations. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Positions in this class series are flexibly staffed and are generally filled by advancement from the Building Inspector level, or when filled from the outside, require prior experience. Advancement to the “Senior” level is based on demonstrated proficiency in performing the assigned functions and/or certification or testing that validates the performance of the full range of duties and is at the discretion of higher level supervisory or management staff.
