[ARCHIVED] Police Award Ceremony and 50th Anniversary Open House (updated)

UPDATE:
Due to the inclement weather forecasted for Thursday's event, the Award Ceremony has been moved to the South Lake Tahoe Parks & Recreation Building located at:
1180 Rufus Allen Blvd,
South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150

PLEASE NOTE: Due to Mother Nature and the location change, the SLTPD Open House (only the Open House) has been postponed. We are coordinating another date and will send out a follow up email as soon as all details are solidified. Thank you!


- In conjunction with Memorial Day, and the National Peace Officer’s Memorial Week, The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) will hold its annual award ceremony on Thursday, May 14th, at 2:00pm. We are inviting all of our public and city family to attend as the presentations are made in front of the police department. Seating will be available and refreshments will be offered during the reception that immediately follows.

The employee’s receiving recognition at this year’s award ceremony is as follows:

Sergeant Shannon Norrgard – Meritorious Service
Sergeant Shannon Laney – Meritorious Service
Dispatcher Jillian Broadfoot – Distinguished Service
Officer Barry Rider – Distinguished Service
Officer Brian Hannink – Community Service Award
Officer Cory Wilson – MADD Award
Officer Chris Webber – MADD Award
Officer Ross Molesworth Rotary Community Hero Award

Immediately following the Award Ceremony, the SLTPD will be swearing in K9’s, Quattro and Tara.

Open House
The City of South Lake Tahoe is celebrating its 50th Anniversary throughout the year with ongoing local events, Open Houses, History Hunt, Time capsule, Parade, and an anniversary dinner in November.

The SLTPD will also be hosting the first 50th Anniversary Open House at the police department beginning at 3:30pm on May 14th. Children are welcome and will enjoy the static displays and where they can talk to officers assigned to special teams such as K9 and SWAT. For anyone who is up for a challenge, the detective division will be hosting scenarios where you can experience being a police officer.
