Tahoe Bike Challenge Kick-off Party
Monday, June 1, 2015, 4pm-6pm
Celebrate the kick-off of the Tahoe Bike Challenge with a “Ready, Set, Pedal” Party at Pearl Izumi located at 2018 Lake Tahoe Blvd. at the “Y.” There will be a fun 5 mile kick-off party route partially through the Tahoe Keys and over to the bike trail on Eloise Ave. or a 10 mile kick-off party route on Lake Tahoe Blvd, up Ski Run Blvd, down Pioneer Trail, then Al Tahoe Blvd. back to Lake Tahoe Blvd. Rides will begin and end at Pearl Izumi beginning at 4:30pm. Tuesday, June 2, 2015, meeting begins at 9am
Attend the upcoming City Council meeting on Tuesday, June 2nd at 9am in the City Council Chambers located at 1901 Airport Road. 50th Anniversary Event – Parks & Recreation Open House and Spring into Summer Event

Join us as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary! The Parks and Recreation Department is being joined by the Lake Tahoe Historical Museum, Tahoe Art League and Lake Tahoe Visitors Center in celebration of our 50th Anniversary on Saturday, June 6th from 10am – 2pm. We will also be celebrating our annual Spring into Summer party where you can take a tour of the recreation center, sign up for South Tahoe Adventure Recreation (STAR) Summer camp, enroll in swim lessons, enjoy refreshments and more! National Trails Day
Saturday, June 6th from 10am to 2pm
Join the Tahoe Rim Trail Association Saturday, June 6th to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of National Trails Day. American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day is the country’s largest celebration of trails. Here on the Tahoe Rim Trail we are honouring National Trails Day by kicking off our summer trail building season and pitching in to complete maintenance work on the Van Sickle Connector Trail. For this special workday the Tahoe Rim Trail Association will be providing lunch for all of our pre-registered volunteers. National Trails Day is a fun workday and a great way to volunteer and give back to the trail you love. The South Lake Tahoe Fire Department and Lake Valley Fire Protection District invite the community to attend a meeting to contribute to South Lake Tahoe’s Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) on Thursday, June 11th at 11 am at the Fire Training Center located at 1100 Lyons Avenue #A-4.

50th Anniversary Event – Police Department Open House

Join us as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary! The South Lake Tahoe Police Department will be hosting an open house at the police department located at 1352 Johnson Blvd. on Thursday, June 11th from 3pm-7pm in honor of the City’s 50th Anniversary. Children are welcome and will enjoy static displays and talk to officers assigned to special teams such as K9 and SWAT.

The next Tahoe Talks Brown Bag Lunch series is Wednesday, June 17th at noon at Lake Tahoe Community College in the Aspen Room and "Legal Rights and Issues for Pedestrians and Bicyclists" is the topic. The Tahoe Talks Brown Bag Lunch Series is sponsored by the Tahoe Metropolitan Planning Organization, League to Save Lake Tahoe, One South Shore, and the U.S. Department of Transportation. Admission is free and light snacks are provided.


Wildfire Safety Expo
Saturday, June 20, 2015, noon-3pm
Local agencies are coming together and hosting a Wildfire Safety Expo on Saturday, June 20th from noon to 3pm at the TJ Maxx parking lot located at the “Y” where Highways 50 and 89 intersect. The event will include information on creating your own home evacuation plan, preparing for fire, creating defensible space around your property and more. Live at Lakeview Summer Concert Series
Thursday, June 24, 2015, music begins at 4:30pm
The City of South Lake Tahoe presents the free summer concert series at Lakeview Commons produced by On Course Events. The summer music series kicks off on Thursday, June 25th at 4:30pm. Lakeview Commons is located on the corner of Highway 50 and Lakeview Avenue across for the Campground by the Lake. Limited parking is available onsite with additional free parking available at the Recreation Swim Complex located at 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd. with an accessible walking path along the campgrounds to access Lakeview Commons.
