[ARCHIVED] Recreation Department Offers STAR Camps for Youth & Teens

The City of South Lake Tahoe Recreation Department is offering a South Tahoe Adventure Camp (STAR) for Youth and Teens.

The STAR Youth Camp is designed for children ages K-5th grade, Monday-Friday 8:30 am to 5:30pm, June 15th – August 21st. The STAR Camps’ slogan is..."NO CHILD LEFT INSIDE!” Our mission is to provide an active, healthy, and safe environment for youth to learn and play. We focus on inspiring a love for the outdoors through exposure to the natural playground in and around the Tahoe region.

The cost of the STAR Youth Camp is $35/day or $150/week. There is an additional cost for some "Fun Trips" at no more than $10 per child. A 10% discount is offered for multiple children registered from the same family. Pre-registration is highly recommended for one day, multiple days, or five full days. Drop-in’s are welcome and based on availability.

The STAR Teen Camp is designed for teens aged 12-16 years old. Made possible through a partnership with the Tahoe Rim Trail Association, STAR Teen Camp is an introduction to backpacking. Each camp includes two days and one night in the backcountry for $150 per camper including backpacking equipment and food. The trip dates are July 9th-10th, 2015 & August 6th-7th, 2015. (Camp begins at 8:30am and concludes at 3:00pm the following day). Teens will learn to connect with the outdoors and disconnect from technology while learning basic backpacking skills and Leave No Trace ethics. Pre-registration is required and space is limited to the first 12 campers.
