[ARCHIVED] Lisa Maloff Donates to South Lake Tahoe Police Canine Association

Mayor Hal Cole presented a proclamation to Mrs. Lisa Maloff for her generous donation at today’s City Council meeting. Mrs. Maloff’s donation has provided for the purchase of a new Police K9, Ricci, a 22-month-old Belgian Malinois. The donation also covers the cost of K9 training, a new K9 vehicle, veterinary bills, food, maintenance and continued K9 handler training for a year. South Lake Tahoe Police Officer Crevelli is the assigned handler of Ricci.

“Lisa and my family go back a long ways and it’s a real honor to be able to present her with this recognition today,” said Mayor Hal Cole.

During the ceremony Mrs. Maloff shared a story of an attempted robbery she had experienced and her gratitude to the K9 program when the suspect was apprehended by a K9. Mrs. Maloff also presented the South Lake Tahoe Police Canine Association (SLTPCA) with a donation of $25k for the purchase of a bullet proof vest and jacket for Ricci.

“The K9 program has a long history within the South Lake Tahoe Police Department and is extremely important. The K9’s protect officers; assist with finding lost and missing persons and locating narcotics,” said Police Chief Brian Uhler.
