The City of South Lake Tahoe recognized Jacob Callanan for his brave actions in assisting a drowning person at today’s City Council meeting.
“Today we are going to recognize someone who is a citizen hero today,” said South Lake Tahoe Fire Department Chief Jeff Meston.
On July 25, 2015, Jacob Callanan was working at Ski Run Boat Company when he heard the sounds of a female in distress in the water in Lake Tahoe. Mr. Callanan swam to the distressed person and brought them to the shore and attempted first aid measures prior to the arrival of the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department paramedics.
“His quick actions definitely saved this person’s life,” said South Lake Tahoe Fire Department Firefighter/Paramedic Al Martinez.
