The City of South Lake Tahoe will be hosting a 50th Anniversary Parade this Saturday, September 19, 2015. The response to the parade has been outstanding and the City has received more than 100 entries and approximately 500 walkers in the parade.
The parade route has changed and will begin at 10:00am at the “Y” and will proceed East on Highway 50, turn right onto Al Tahoe Blvd. and end at Bijou Community Park where the city will officially open and dedicate the Bijou Bike Park with a “Party at the Park.”
The two westbound lanes of Highway 50 from Stateline to the “Y” will remain open. The two eastbound lanes of Highway 50 from the “Y” will be closed from 9:30am to 10:30am with a rolling lane opening beginning at approximately 10:30am. Motorists are to except traffic to be slow and we encourage motorists to utilize Pioneer Trail during an immediately following the parade.
It is anticipated that the parade will turn onto Al Tahoe Blvd. from Highway 50 at approximately 10:30am to 11:00am to Bijou Community Park.
The parking lot at Bijou Community Park will be reserved to accommodate parking for floats and classic cars from the parade. Parking will be available across the street at Lake Tahoe Community College for all other vehicles, parade participants and “Party at the Park” attendees.

10:00 to 11:00am Parade
12:30pm Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Bijou Bike Park and complimentary hot dogs and hamburgers
1:00pm Bike Park opens to public
1:30pm SLT Police 'Bike Rodeo' for kids
2:00 to 3:00pm Jump Jam on slopestyle line with World class athletes
3:30pm BMX Race starts
All day 4th Annual Deep Blue Derby Tournament, hosted by the Sierra Regional Roller Derby
The City will be offering limited complimentary hot dogs and hamburgers from 12:30-2:30pm with donations being suggested for the Bijou Bike Park Association.
