On September 13, 2011, the South Lake Tahoe City Council adopted Ordinance 1032 setting forth procedures for the cultivation of medical marijuana in a residence. Cultivation is limited to personal use and use by a primary caregivers’ patients. Residents cultivating medical marijuana must submit an application for a Residential Cultivation Permit (RCP) no later than December 20, 2011 or face a fine of $1,000 per day. Applications and permit procedures are available online at www.cityofslt.us/RCP.
The City is also announcing efforts to provide opportunities for local residents to report a possible marijuana cultivation operations in their neighborhood. Residents can submit the information online and anonymously, also through the City’s website.
